Verdex Construction has broken ground on a new Holiday Inn Express Doral, located at 1691 NW 107th Ave., Doral, FL. The five-story structure will include 75 guest rooms, totaling 50,170 sq. ft., on a one-acre site. The developer is Palma Building LLC with Driftwood Acquisitions and Development acting as owner’s representative.

“As we put the finishing touches on our first hospitality project for Driftwood, the stunning Canopy West Palm Beach Downtown, we’re excited to partner with Driftwood on a second project,” said Rex Kirby, President of Verdex Construction. “With projects underway from Tampa to Port St. Lucie to Miami-Dade County, Verdex has proven our teams can successfully deliver complex projects anywhere in Florida.”

Construction of the Holiday Inn Express Doral will begin in mid-October, with completion expected in October, 2020. Amenities include a pool, dining area and meeting rooms. With 2,776 locations and 790 more in development, Holiday Inn Express is parent company International Hotel Group’s (IHG) fastest growing hotel brand.

Verdex Construction’s recent projects throughout South Florida include the Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach Downtown; 1000 North, an upscale restaurant/club on the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter; Water Tower Commons apartments in the Town of Lantana; and Indigo Station apartments in Deerfield Beach.

In just five years, Verdex has earned numerous awards and prestigious industry recognition, including being named by GrowFL as a 2017 Florida “Company to Watch” and 2016 Startup Business of the Year by the South Florida Business Journal. Verdex also ranked third on South Florida Business Journal’s “Fast 50” for 2019, a list that ranks the fastest growing businesses in the tri-county region.

West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has just broken ground on Airport Logistics Park, a new 245,000 sq. ft., Class A industrial warehouse project directly across from Palm Beach International Airport. Located at 350 N. Haverhill Rd., the project will sit on 39.6 acres, and is expected to be complete by summer 2020. The project was designed by C4 Architecture in Orlando for developer McCraney Property Company.

“The need for additional warehouse space is immediate as more and more consumers are having items shipped directly to their homes, and Verdex brought the ability to quickly ramp up this project to bring it online within a year,” said Verdex Construction President Rex Kirby.

This is Verdex’s second project for McCraney Property Company, having completed its Turnpike Business Park in 2016. The location of this warehouse is key, with quick access to Palm Beach International Airport, I-95, and Florida’s Turnpike.

“Demand remains strong for the greater West Palm Beach market principally due to the lack of alternative space options and the enhanced warehouse need driven by last mile delivery,” said Steven McCraney, President and CEO of McCraney Property Company. “We are building over 8 million square feet across the Southeast so it’s nice to have a new project at home, bringing jobs and warehouse space to our local community.”

For the third consecutive year, West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has been named a recipient of the prestigious Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Florida East Coast Chapter at their 2019 Excellence in Construction Awards. The Eagle Award, given to best-in-class projects, was presented to Verdex for Central Gardens Grand apartments in Palm Beach Gardens in the highly-competitive category of Best Market Rate Rental project ($20 – $50 million). The award from the local chapter now allows the project to be considered for a national ABC award.

Completed in December 2018, Central Gardens Grand consists of 124 luxury apartments in two four-story buildings at 3333 Central Boulevard. The project totaled 276,000 sq. ft. with amenities including a 13,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with a resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness center, putting green, business center and card rooms. Verdex Construction operated as general contractor for developer Schottenstein Real Estate Group.

“This was a truly significant project requiring the highest level of craftsmanship and experience for which Verdex excels,” said Rex Kirby, President of Verdex Construction. “It’s a perfect example of what we mean when we say Verdex is ‘Building Something Better’.”

“The 2019 Excellence in Construction Awards brought together the best and brightest in our industry and showed that construction is still a major economic driver in South Florida,” said Peter Dyga, president and CEO of ABC Florida East Coast Chapter. “We are proud of all of the honorees and their skillful work.”
