Homesafe and Verdex

Team members from West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction volunteered their time on Saturday, Sept. 19 to paint the interior and exterior of a 1,000 foot-long barrier wall at the new campus of HomeSafe, a Palm Beach County non-profit which provides housing and essential services for victims of child abuse and domestic violence. The new campus is located in West Palm Beach and construction is expected to be completed in early 2021.

Verdex was selected by HomeSafe to build the new campus, and its goal with the volunteer efforts is to help the non-profit reduce construction costs wherever possible so those funds can be used to support its residents. Verdex was also able to arrange the donation of paint, supplies, and manpower, provided by  Jasper Painting, Sherwin-Williams, Ram Tool Construction Supply Company, and Labor For Hire/Kleaning Krew.

The new HomeSafe campus will consist of two buildings: one will add 12 new residential units with a kitchen, dining, and game rooms; the second will serve as a multi-purpose facility with an exercise room, community room, music room, computer room, and space for HomeSafe offices and administration. The 3.2 acre site will also include a basketball court, gazebo, and other amenities.

Verdex Construction  will begin construction of The Watermark at West Palm Beach in fall of 2020.  This Class-AA, luxury senior living community is Verdex Construction’s first project for prestigious developer ZOM Living, which has created residential and senior living properties across the country. The eight-story, 245,416 sq. ft. building at 445 Datura Street in the heart of Downtown West Palm Beach will offer 154 residential units ranging from 360 sq. ft. to 1,380 sq. ft.  Construction is expected to be complete in spring of 2022. The architect is MSA Architects.

“This project mirrors our recently completed Canopy hotel project, as both are several stories on very tight infill sites requiring greater expertise than open greenfield projects,” said Rex Kirby, President of Verdex Construction. “We’re excited to add to our growing list of projects that further the success of the West Palm Beach Downtown Business District.”

The units on the top four floors of The Watermark will offer independent living for seniors, with the third and fourth floor dedicated to assisted living. The second floor will house memory care.  The project’s features and amenities include a commercial kitchen, bar, library, theater, beauty salon, exercise room, swimming pool, outdoor terraces, and a four-story parking garage with 119 spaces.

West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has announced the launch of an additional office in Gainesville to serve the company’s clients located in north Florida. This is Verdex’s second expansion outside of its West Palm Beach headquarters following its expansion to Tampa last year.

The Gainesville office will be led by Joey Mandese, who has been named Vice President and Managing Director of Verdex’s North Florida office. He is also a graduate of the University of Florida, with a B.S. in Building Construction.

“I worked with Joey at a previous company, and as soon as we decided to expand our operation into north Florida, I knew that his skill set, leadership, relationships and knowledge of the market make him the right person to lead and grow our North Florida office,” said Verdex President Rex Kirby. “Joey embodies our company’s anthem of “Building Something Better.”

Verdex Construction’s recent projects include the Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach Downtown, the much-acclaimed new hotel opening March 2020; 1000 North, an upscale restaurant/club on the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter; Water Tower Commons apartments in the Town of Lantana; Indigo Station apartments in Deerfield Beach, and Westshore Apartments in Tampa.

Construction of the Holiday Inn Express Doral will begin in mid-October, with completion expected in October, 2020. Amenities include a pool, dining area and meeting rooms. With 2,776 locations and 790 more in development, Holiday Inn Express is parent company International Hotel Group’s (IHG) fastest growing hotel brand.

West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has just broken ground on Airport Logistics Park, a new 245,000 sq. ft., Class A industrial warehouse project directly across from Palm Beach International Airport. Located at 350 N. Haverhill Rd., the project will sit on 39.6 acres, and is expected to be complete by summer 2020. The project was designed by C4 Architecture in Orlando for developer McCraney Property Company.

“The need for additional warehouse space is immediate as more and more consumers are having items shipped directly to their homes, and Verdex brought the ability to quickly ramp up this project to bring it online within a year,” said Verdex Construction President Rex Kirby.

This is Verdex’s second project for McCraney Property Company, having completed its Turnpike Business Park in 2016. The location of this warehouse is key, with quick access to Palm Beach International Airport, I-95, and Florida’s Turnpike.

“Demand remains strong for the greater West Palm Beach market principally due to the lack of alternative space options and the enhanced warehouse need driven by last mile delivery,” said Steven McCraney, President and CEO of McCraney Property Company. “We are building over 8 million square feet across the Southeast so it’s nice to have a new project at home, bringing jobs and warehouse space to our local community.”

Verdex Construction’s recent projects throughout South Florida include the Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach Downtown; 1000 North, an upscale restaurant/club on the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter; Water Tower Commons apartments in the Town of Lantana; and Indigo Station apartments in Deerfield Beach.

The award from the local chapter now allows the project to be considered for a national ABC award.

Completed in December 2018, Central Gardens Grand consists of 124 luxury apartments in two four-story buildings at 3333 Central Boulevard. The project totaled 276,000 sq. ft. with amenities including a 13,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with a resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness center, putting green, business center and card rooms. Verdex Construction operated as general contractor for developer Schottenstein Real Estate Group.
